Weather Research and Forecasting Model (WRF)
16/04/2020
Hydro-Informatics Institute or HII not only has conducted research on the climate change but also developed the climate change monitoring system with collaboration from national and international networks for enhancing the weather forecasting system, supporting data to relevant agencies for efficient water management, floods and landslide warning, and supporting all climate resilience research.
WRF-ROMS Coupled Model (WRF-ROMS Coupled Model)
HII developed the model for precipitation forecast by using
the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) and the Regional Ocean Model System (ROMS) by enhancing the Coupled-Ocean-Atmosphere-Wave-Sediment Transport Modeling System (COAWST) of U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), USA.
The WRF-ROMS model will forecast precipitation, wind direction, and other climate factors. At present, the model can forecast 3 days ahead with 3×3 km2 resolutions and 7 days ahead with 9×3 km2 resolutions. The model calculation is processed twice a day.
The outcome was sent to related agencies to support their decision making on water management and also publish via www.thaiwater.net for those who are interested.
