2020: Automated Telemetry Station Development to Support Nation Water Resources Management

08/02/2024

Since the year 2004, HII has collaborated with Advance Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS) to installed weather telemetry stations totaling 470 locations throughout the AIS cell site. Later in 2015, after improved the efficiency and changed the frequency of the service from 2G to 3G, AIS had to cancel and return some cell sites according to the concession contract. Therefore, HII planned to support these changes to ensure service continuous on monitoring and data transmission from those weather telemetry stations, HII has requested to the Department of Local Administration and nearby government office to replace those station totaling 470 stations. This project stated in 2015 with 12 stations were replaced, followed by 90 stations in 2016, 197 stations in 2017, and 171 stations in 2018, and completed the replacement one year faster than schedule.

In the fiscal year 2020, HII has develop and maintenance automated telemetry station totaling 947 stations, with 234 stations upgraded to version 4.0. HII has owned over 950 stations, comprising 599 stations for weather telemetry station and 351 stations for water telemetry stations, covering the entire country.

The data measured from HII’s telemetry stations can online monitor and displayed through the website www.thaiwater.net and the ThaiWater mobile application, which supports both Android and iOS systems, including sending a short message service (SMS) to notify when heavy rain is detected and in the area that is likely to cause. by doing so, there are various channels to follow and support to avoid and prevent nature disaster in timely.

Later on, in 2020, HII has completed Automated Telemetry Station development project in year 2020 which making all telemetry stations are now more stable and efficiency and more than 92 percent of data can continuously transmitting data to the central office. This has enabled Short Message Service (SMS) notifications, accuracy rate over 99%, to relevant agencies for monitoring and surveillance in timely before natural disaster occur.
