17 agencies united to create a national hydro informatics standard

On September 21, 2022, Hydro-Informatics Institute (Public Organization) or HII organized a seminar on the topic “Standardization and Central Platform for Water Dataset Exchange” at Ballroom B, Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel. Dr. Sutat Weesakul – Director of HII, Dr. Supot Tiarawut – Director of Digital Government Development Agency (Public Organization) or DGA, and Mr. Boonsom Cholapakakwong – Director of the National Water Resources Office (NONSTDA) attended the opening ceremony which were participated by more than 100 people from 17 agencies related in dataset management.
This seminar aimed to promote the success of “The Centralized Water Data Exchange System (prototype)” project under the Digital Government Development Plan. In 2022, HII prepared 3 datasets of hydro informatics standards i.e. rainwater, runoff, and large water resources, which was collaborated with important water agencies e.g., Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR), Thai Meteorological Department, Royal Irrigation Department, Department of Water Resource, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, and Department of Drainage and Sewerage BMA.
Through strong collaboration, Thailand has achieved a standardized and transparent water data system. This has led to the establishment of a centralized platform for exchanging water data and providing Open Data services in alignment with the national strategy for Thailand’s sustainable water resource management.
