HII Collaborates with TNDR and Naresuan University to Host a Seminar on “Extreme Heat - Extreme Disasters: How to Manage Water to Survive”

On July 12, 2024, the Hydro-Informatics Institute (HII) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESRI), led by Dr. Royboon Rassamethes, Director of HII, co-hosted the national and international conference “The 2nd National and International TNDR Conference on Be Better: Disaster Resilience for Better Society” with the Thai Network for Disaster Resilience (TNDR) at the Somdet Phra Naresuan Maharat Exhibition and Conference Center, Naresuan University.

Dr. Pijit Rattakul, President of TNDR, emphasized the objective of this conference is to disseminate knowledge and technology, as well as to facilitate knowledge and experience sharing, strengthening the network’s capacity to apply knowledge to cope with climate change. HII and its partners, including Mr. Wattanassak Supaking, Director of the Water Resources and Information Technology Promotion Division, Mr. Sukthawat Pattavarakorn, Director of Natural Resources and Social Mission, SCG Public Company Limited, and Mr. Veerit Kavayapanik, Head of the Water Management Center, Phrae Provincial Administrative Organization, and a representative of the community water management leaders, participated in a panel discussion on the topic “Extreme Heat – Extreme Disasters: How to Manage Water to Survive.”

In the afternoon session, titled “Market Place Hydro,” Ms. Pensiri Saranrat, Director of the Policy and Strategy Division, presented research missions and operations related to utilizing water resource information for disaster management. The discussion provided a platform for knowledge sharing, linking research outcomes, and developing disaster preparedness courses to establish a comprehensive knowledge base for risk and disaster management in the future.
