On November 20, 2023, Ms. Supamas Isaraphakdi, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), assigned Ms. Suchada Thaensap, Secretary to the Minister of MHESI, as her representative to visit the Hydro-Informatics Institute (HII). The visit aimed to discuss the preparedness, monitoring, and support for flood response in the southern region. Dr. Royboon Rassameethes, Director of HII, showcased the Mobile War Room for water situation analysis and monitoring, automated telemetry technology for weather and water level data measurement, a high-performance computing system for the National Hydroinformatics Data Centre, and the water situation forecasting system.
Subsequently, they attended a briefing on water situation forecasts in the Water Situation Analysis and Monitoring Command Room on the 2nd floor. The southern region network participated online to prepare for the heavy rainfall. The Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR) also joined in the discussion to prepare, monitor, and support flood response, particularly in high-risk areas such as Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat provinces.
MHESI has instructed the Hydro-Informatics Institute (HII) to fully support readiness, monitoring, and response to natural disasters in the southern region. They encourage the public to download the ThaiWater mobile application to monitor water situations proactively. This initiative aims to ensure timely awareness, enhance safety for lives and property, and foster confidence and reassurance even in risky situations.
