On November 13, 2023, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, in his capacity as overseer of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), visited and delivered operational policies to the MHESI. He also toured an exhibition showcasing technological and innovative works from various MHESI agencies. The event was attended by Ms. Supamas Isaraphakdi, Minister of MHESI, along with ministry executives and Dr. Royboon Rassameethes, Director of the Hydro-Informatics Institute (HII), who welcomed them at the King Mongkut Building, MHESI, Yothi Road, Bangkok.
In this regard, the Director of HII presented the work titled “National Hydroinformatics Data Centre: Provincial Database for Water Management, Disaster Warning, and Community Development.” This project has been carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior (MOI) to expand the utilization of the National Hydroinformatics Data Centre for the development and enhancement of the quality of life at the provincial and community levels. Under the operation of the Provincial Water Resource Managenet Center, the project connects with the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, the Department of Local Administration, and supports provincial governors in integrating all dimensions of area operations. It also involves community water management in collaboration with the Department of Community Development and the Department of Local Administration.
Additionally, he presented the ThaiWater Mobile Application, which enables the public to easily access water situation information. This facilitates preparedness, planning, and water management at the local level in a timely manner. The successful integration of operations between HII and MOI aims to enhance the quality of life, increase security, and ensure sustainable management for the public.
This aligns with the policy statement by Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who emphasized that MHESI should focus on addressing the needs of both the country and the world, with a particular emphasis on “Sustainable Development.” He also highlighted the importance of promoting the creative economy and artificial intelligence technology, as well as advancing crucial infrastructure for national development.
