On December 13, 2022, the Hydro-Informatics Institute (HII) collaborated with Hokkaido University, Japan, the Department of Water Resources, Kasetsart University, and King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi to organize an international conference on “Computer Application for River Hydraulics & Morphodynamics.” The event took place at the conference room on the 8th floor of the HII office.
The objective of the event was to facilitate the exchange of knowledge in river hydrodynamics and morphodynamics to address and apply solutions to the challenges in river management in Thailand. The conference aimed to share insights and practical applications of mathematical modeling in hydroinformatics and river basin dynamics, specifically utilizing the iRIC model.
The seminar was honored to host world-renowned experts in mathematical modeling from Japan, led by Prof. Dr. Yasuyaki Shimizu from Hokkaido University, Prof. Dr. Hiroshi Takebayashi from Kyoto University, Prof. Dr. Taichi Tebakari from Chuo University, Mr. Keita Hoshino from the River Centre of Hokkaido (RIC), Dr. Jonathan Nelson from the United States Geological Survey (USGS), Prof. Dr. Uruya Weesakul from Thammasat University, and Prof. Dr. Sornit Wongsa from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi. The event provided a platform for knowledge exchange, experience sharing, and discussions on the current water situation in Thailand, drawing significant interest from students, academics, and water-related organizations in the country.
