From August 5-9, 2024, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESRI), through the Hydro-Informatics Institute (HII), in collaboration with the Office of the Permanent Secretary of MHESRI (OPS-MHESRI), Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI), CAS-TWAS Center of Excellence for Climate and Environment Sciences (ICCES), Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and The World Academy of Sciences East and South-East Asia and the Pacific Regional Partner (TWAS-SAPREP), organized a training session aimed at strengthening the network of researchers and workforce in Earth and Climate Sciences. The training, titled Increasing Capability (INCAP) for Weather and Climate in Thailand through Numerical Methods, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence (4th INCAP), focused on enhancing capabilities in weather and climate prediction using advanced techniques.
- August 5, 2024: Prof. Zhaohui LIN, Director of ICEES, and Ms. Dongyao WANG, Deputy Director of International Cooperation at CAS, along with TWAS-SAPREP and IAED representatives, met with Dr. Royboon Rassamethes, Director of HII, to discuss future collaboration.
- August 6-7, 2024: The 4th INCAP training was officially opened by Dr. Royboon Rassamethes, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Patamavadee Pochanukul, Director of TSRI, Ms. Dongyao WANG, and Prof. Zhaohui LIN. The event attracted around 125 participants, including researchers, students, and representatives from various related organizations.
- August 8-9, 2024: HII and the research network, along with Chinese experts, conducted site visits to study water management for energy at the EGAT Learning Center, Lam Ta Khong; water management for agriculture at the Lam Ta Khong Operation and Maintenance Project, Royal Irrigation Department; and soil and water conservation at the Soil and Water Conservation Research Center in Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The group also attended a presentation on crop management and visited the HII model station supporting research under the sub-seasonal to seasonal (S2S) weather prediction project funded by TSRI, led by Dr. Kritanai Torsri at the National Corn and Sorghum Research Center (Suwan Farm).
