HII Participates in the 21st AOGS2024 International Scientific Conference
20/09/2024
From June 23-28, 2024, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESRI), through the Hydro-Informatics Institute (HII), participated in the 21st Asia Oceania Geoscience Society (AOGS2024) International Conference held in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province, South Korea. Dr. Kritanai Torsri and Mr. Rati Sawangwatthanaipiboon, from the Climate Division of the Hydroinformatics Innovation Division (HID), represented HII and presented their research at the conference.
Dr. Kritanai Torsri presented his research titled “Evaluation of WRF Land Surface Model Accuracy in Sub-Seasonal to Seasonal (S2S) Rainfall Prediction Skill Across Thailand.” This study evaluates the accuracy of the WRF land surface model in predicting rainfall within sub-seasonal to seasonal scales. The research is a collaborative effort between HII, Kasetsart University (KU), and Chiang Mai University (CMU), supported by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT). Dr. Kritanai was also honored to serve as a session chair in the Atmospheric Session: Observations and Modeling.
Mr. Rati Sawangwatthanaipiboon presented his research on “Validating a Deep Learning Approach for Weekly Rainfall Anomaly Forecasting: A Case Study in Upper Thailand with Diverse Climate Features.” His study focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of deep learning methods for forecasting weekly rainfall anomalies, using Upper Thailand as a case study to explore the feasibility of future applications.
