HII Participates in Frontline Command Center Drill and Strengthens Public Networks in Line with 2024 Rainy Season Response Measures

On July 10, 2024, Dr. Royboon Rassamethes, Director of the Hydro-Informatics Institute (HII) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESRI), participated in a frontline command center drill aimed at strengthening public networks in accordance with the 10 measures for the 2024 rainy season response. The drill was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Phumtham Wechayachai, in his capacity as Chairman of the National Water Resources Committee (NWRC), alongside Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Jakkapong Saengmanee, Secretary-General of the National Water Resources Office (ONWR) Dr. Surasri Kidtimonton, representatives from 24 government agencies, academics, river basin committee members, industrial estate operators, and community networks. Over 200 participants attended the event, held at the Phraewa Hall, Thai Handicraft Promotion Institute (Public Organization), Bang Sai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province.
HII, serving as part of the executive team under the structure of the Frontline Water Management Command Center, identified flood-risk areas and deployed the Mobile War Room vehicle to monitor water situations, along with the MMS vehicle for topographic surveys. The Deputy Prime Minister received a briefing on the use of the Mobile War Room and water situation forecasting for Thailand and commended HII’s support and operations in preparation for potential future incidents.
The objective of this operational drill was to ensure effective tracking, evaluation, and forecasting of water management situations, providing precise warnings and coordinated assistance to mitigate impacts promptly and effectively.
