HII Organizes Seminar on Information Systems for Drought Monitoring and Forecasting

On June 6, 2024, Dr. Royboon Rassamethes, Director of the Hydro-Informatics Institute (HII), presided over the opening of the seminar on “Information Systems for Drought Monitoring and Forecasting.” The seminar, held at Asawin Grand Convention Hotel in Bangkok, was part of the project to develop a drought monitoring and forecasting system using drought indices from satellite data.
The seminar aimed to present the project and the application of the drought monitoring and forecasting system in water management to various public agencies, academic institutions, and interested organizations. Participants included the Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation, Office of Agricultural Economics, National Water Resources Office, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, Provincial Waterworks Authority, Meteorological Department, Department of Agricultural Extension, Land Development Department, Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Department of Groundwater Resources, Royal Irrigation Department, Thammasat University, Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University, University of Phayao, Srinakharinwirot University, Mahidol University, and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).
Experts from HII and Mahidol University were invited to speak at the event. The participants actively engaged in discussions, asked questions, and shared their views, paving the way for future collaborations between organizations.
