HII collaborates with the Engineer Department on-site to discuss cooperation in developing the “Nong Wua So” development model

On November 26, 2023, the Engineer Department, together with Dr. Royboon Rassameethes, Director of the Hydro-Informatics Institute (HII) and Deputy Secretary-General of the Utokapat Foundation under the Royal Patronage, visited the pioneering project “Nong Wua So” development model in Udon Thani province. They discussed cooperation in developing public utilities systems for water resource development, aiming to implement sustainable community water management practices guided by royal initiatives.

Local community leaders, including the Deputy Chief Executive of the Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO), village headmen, deputy village headmen, and residents, provided information and discussed ways to manage and develop water sources and distribution systems to be constructed by the Engineer Department. This ensures everyone’s participation in effective water management. HII analyzed problem-solving strategies, provided knowledge, fostered understanding of community water management, promoted the formation of water user groups, created water resource maps, identified water sources, water routes, and water demand, outlined management guidelines, suggested adjustments in water usage and agriculture, identified project needs, and coordinated with relevant agencies to secure support.

This will present the results of the discussion and development guidelines to the Prime Minister on December 25, 2023.
